Wise People Still Worship Him

Some people say Christmas is not about giving gifts. But it is! Christmas celebrates the day God gave us the best gift ever-when He sent His Son to the world. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16, ESV).
When the magi (also called wise men) learned that Jesus had been born, they travelled far to see Him (Matthew 2). They wanted to worship the young King. They brought with them valuable, gifts of gold, frankincense and myrhh. Frankincense and myrhh are both resin or sap that comes from trees. In the days of Jesus' birth, these tree products were as valuable as gold! The two saps had different usages. They could be used to help sick people heal. They were also used to make fine perfumes and incense. Myrhh smells piney and bitter when burned. Frankincense smells more lik sweet citrus. The smoke from burning Frankincense could also chase away bugs!

Some people say we give gifts on Christmas today because the magi gave gifts to Jesus. As you're thinking about Christmas, have you thought about giving gifts to Jesus?
