Treneta Bowden has received two nominations for the Canadian Gospel Music Awards.

LANGLEY, B.C.-Aboriginal Award-winning Artist Treneta Bowden has received nominations for two categories with the 2020 Canadian Gospel Music Awards.

Bowden's new song and album, Hold On, has been nominated for Indigenous Album of the Year. "Hold On" was written as a song of hope and healing to inspire First Nations and othr people to rise up in their purpose and to never quit. "I pray that this song and the others will be songs of rescue and healing to those who feel emotional pain and brokenness," Bowden says.

Bowden's second nomination is for her song, "Chamando," which is a Cree name for God, who is concerned about the suffering of His people. Reflecting on the pain of many who suffered abuse, were stripped from their families in the residential school system and have been neglected, Bowden feels Chamando has heard their cry and will help many heal and soar.

Treneta says her dream to see families, leadership, marriages, youth and individuals healed and encouraged. She has helped thousands of children and families with her charity and has counseled and supported many communities who have faced crisis, grief and suicide. During the past 12 years, she has served nearly 50 communities, bringing hope, joy and love with her music and messages of healing through her outreach to the north called Servant Sock Christmas Project. Bowden has received the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee medal for her outstanding service with this project.

Bowden has spoken and sung for various venues and organizations, including World Vision, 100 Huntley Street, Wawayta radio, WDCX 99.5 FM and as a host on Nite Lite Live.

Bowden is not new to the Gospel Music Awards. She won for Aboriginal song of the year in both 2015 and 2016 and was nominated for Aboriginal song of the year in 2005 and 2007.
