First Nations Christian Writers-

Volume 1 Anthology

Goldrock Press Paper 82 pages

Sixteen writers from large cities, isolated northern communities, high school and university campuses contributed essays that are eye-opening and heart-breaking but also full of hope.

Joshua Heath, 14, writes of the horrific effects of being a ward of the foster care system and how it has shaped his life (see his story on page 9). Brenda Fontaine's follows this up with a poem which speaks to parents of children in foster care.

Naomi Peters, a student at Tyndale University, wrote an essay about Murdered and Missing Aboriginal Women and Corrine Clyne backs this up with poetry.

Elders such as Bernard Mason, Benjamin Paul, Sylvia Polson share their stories and Sue Carlisle and Edie Baas write about their families.

Other writers include Terri Lamarche, Deborah Ironstand, James Peters, Theresa Doran, Sylvia Richard, Grace Ross, and Parry Stelter.

There is great depth of emotion, character, and perspective throughout this little book. It's one that I'd recommend to Indian Life readers. The book can be ordered by calling 1-204-359-6572 or ordering online at http://www.goldrockpress.com

Orders can also be placed by writing to Goldrock Press, Box 1185, Norway House, MB.

101 Blessings

Review by Carla McKay

This book is a great read because it's easy to read and encouraging as it shows how God can use people, places, and things to encourage us in our journey in life. 101 little devotionals to encourage the reader each day.

The author also has a blog which readers will find encouraging. One woman wrote: "I love your blog. The way you write description makes everything real. I can actually feel that I am right there with you in that moment. I am not a Christian but reading your inspirational words almost makes me want to be one. Keep writing please...."

I agree.
