The Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina are beautiful and come this June, they will also be filled with beautiful music. That is at least at Lake Junaluska when "Sing to the Mountain 2" comes to the retreat center along the lake.

LAKE JUNALUSKA, NC-Over the last weekend of June 2015, the hills and mountains of Western North Carolina will come alive with the sound of singing, the beauty of dancing, and the joy of feasting together.

From June 26-28, Sing to the Mountain II will be held at Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center in Lake Junaluska, North Carolina between Asheville and the Cherokee Nation. Headlining the weekend will be Mohawk Jonathan Maracle and Broken Walls.

The lineup of singers and speakers will include Cheryl Bear, RainSong, Bill Pagaran of Carry the Cure, Casey Church, Lily Among Thorns, Doug Yates, Aloha Gathering, and more.

There will be a powwow on Saturday afternoon with Apache Bryan Brightcloud as Master of Ceremonies.

Hosted by the Southeastern Jurisdictional Association for Native American Ministries, part of the National Division of the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church.


Registration will be from 3:00-5:00 pm followed by Dinner and the opening session with Rhythms of Life, Doug Yates and Cheryl Bear, along with Lily Among Thorns.

Saturday morning begins with a Sunrise Ceremony followed by breakfast. The rest of the morning has teaching sessions and music.

Indian Life

Headlining the event will be Jonathan Maracle and the band Broken Walls.

From 1:30-5:30 pm, is the powwow and will include Native crafts and vendors. Those attending the festival are encouraged to bring their regalia and dance.

After dinner, there is the Saturday night concert.

Sunday morning will begin with a Sunrise Ceremony followed by breakfast and a short session after which will be a panel discussion. The Native American music and summer conference concludes at 10 am.
