Robert Falcon Ouellette, a recent candidate for mayor of Winnipeg, now has set his sights on federal politics, seeking to run as a candidate for the Liberal Party in Winnipeg Centre. As an Aboriginal candidate he speaks to the issues that face First Nations people.
WINNIPEG, MB-According to the Canadian Press, mayoral candidate in Winnipeg's last election has stated that he is seeking the nomination of the Liberal Party in Winnipeg Centre riding in the next federal election. This means that he will be running against veteran Member of Parliament Pat Martin who is a member of the New Democratic Party (NDP).
Ouellette, 38, is a rising star in Manitoba politics. In the mayor's race, he ran with just a small organization but still finished in third place with 16 percent of the vote ahead of more prominent candidates.
