There's a wonderful song by the Christian music group Mercy Me entitled "The Hurt and the Healer." This song is very powerful and I want to translate this song from my own experience, Scripture and the life of Jesus and let it help heal your broken heart.

Here we go with the lyrics. "Why? The question that is never far away. The healing doesn't come from being explained. Jesus, please don't let this go in vain. You're all I have. All that remains."

Many times when we experience hurt and extreme pain, others try to explain why the pain is happening, just like Job's three friends did in the book of Job. When we read this book we see that the friends were not successful when trying to comfort Job, because they were self-righteous in their approach and they thought they had God figured out. They were wrong and their advice only made things worse.

How many times do people around you think they have the answers for you? In fact, many times their advice deepens the pain instead of making things better. Yet, when we look to Jesus He has all the answers. When we come to Him, it is there that we find true mercy and grace and understanding. We see that when we search the scriptures we find healing. Look at Matthew 16: 21: "From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests an

d scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised."

The suffering that Jesus endured was from the very people that you think would be capable of mercy and grace, but it was the will of the Father that He had to endure such suffering. In our everyday context and life, our sufferings are for different reasons because Jesus endured His suffering so we could be saved.

Yet suffering is still part of our journey. Notice that it says, "and on the third day be raised." We too have the same promise that we will be raised from our suffering and hurt and pain. Many of us are (symbolically) waiting for that third day so that we can be raised from our circumstances and suffering. If Jesus could physically be raised from the dead, we too can be raised from our suffering if we call out to the "True Healer" who is Jesus. Call out to Him and tell Him all about your suffering and don't leave out any details. Spill the beans (so to speak), and leave it all with Jesus to figure out.

You and people are angry, and the people on the outside don't really understand. You're stuck in suffering. I recommend you come to the "True Healer" because He is the only one who truly understands suffering and pain.

When we look at Isaiah 53:5, we see this prophet making a promise about Jesus the "True Healer." "But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His stripes we are healed."

When you read this verse, it says that "with His stripes we are healed." This means that the stripes that Jesus had on His back when He was whipped and tortured, before being crucified, happened for our benefit. We are healed because of what He endured and suffered. Our suffering doesn't save us, because we are already saved by His suffering. Our healing comes directly from His pain, anguish, torture, humiliation, and injustice.

We are also promised peace. Jesus can speak peace into our situation, no matter what it is. If you're in prison, Jesus is the "True Healer." If your spouse or relative just died, Jesus is the "True Healer." If you are finding it hard to adjust to a new job, Jesus is the "True Healer."

When the advice of other people does not bring comfort and healing, look to Jesus-the "True Healer."
