Soaring like an eagle

Do you want to fly or soar?

Recently I have had the joy of witnessing a couple of eagles flying in the air. There is something so majestic and wondrous about these amazing birds. Their strength and “eagle eyes” are admirable and should cause us to certainly acknowledge God’s almighty hand, made obvious through His creative power. God’s Word says that all things were made by Him and through Him (John 1:3). He spoke the Word and various aspects of creation came to be instantly!

The one aspect I admire most about eagles is their ability to fly high above all the drama that is happening below them. Whatever is happening on earth, whatever trouble, it doesn’t affect them. Their eyes focus far ahead of them and they focus on the prize (their prey) as they zoom down and up again, victoriously.

Did you know that it is possible to live like an eagle? Sadly, so many of us get sucked into the drama of the world, (gossip, addictions, hatred, greed and so on). It controls us and ruins us for what God created us to be. It robs us of our potential and gives us no peace.

How can one remain strong as the eagle, and be able to look far beyond the things which seem to appeal to our flesh which results in problems and punishment from God?

God’s Word says that without a Savior, we are sinking in sin. Sin keeps us from God and it results in death and eternal separation from God. It weighs us down by chaining us up, and keeps us from the potential that God would desire for us. Its impossible to break free from its grip on our own. But there is a way of escape!

When we were yet without strength, Jesus died for us the sinners (Romans 5:6).

There is only one mediator who can bring us to God. It’s not the eagle or church or our prayers. It’s not any good thing we may try to do. It isn’t even our faith!

God’s Word says, “There is one mediator between God and man, and that man is Christ Jesus” (First Timothy 2:5).

Jesus Christ was judged for our sins, by a Holy God in Heaven. The judgment that He bore on our behalf caused His death (First Peter 2:24). Thankfully, He is stronger than the power of sin and three days later, rose again victorious over sin, death and even hell.

It is through His death and resurrection that we can have real life here on earth and soar like an eagle, escaping the temptation of sin, and the judgment it deserves (John 3:36).

Would you like to have freedom to soar above sin’s clutches and live the way God created you to live (Second Corinthians 5:17)? God wants to have a relationship with you and He wants to take away the judgment that you deserve so that you can have His peace and assurance of Heaven as your home (John 1:12, John 5:24). He wants to give you new life, and His Spirit to live within you so that you can know victory and soar like an eagle (Galatians5:16).

Won’t you take a moment to acknowledge Jesus as your Savior? Won’t you take your place as the guilty one and believe that He died and rose again for you? Those that do, can claim this promise: “But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
