El Mero Mero

I love my Native American people," says rapper El Mero Mero. "I am an enrolled member of the Mescalero Apache from Mescalero, NM. My father is Mescalero Apache and my mother is Hispanic. I live my life to glorify God and to do whatever I can to make this world a better place. I have a simple message to the world that God is good. You were put on this earth for a purpose...."

Q You are truly busy and productive these days!Tell us about yourself?

A My name is Frizzo El Mero Mero. Rap artist doing it big for all the people who can relate and enjoy the music I put out.

Q Tell us about your music career?

A Started performing at age 16 all over the southwest areas. Produced many demo CDs and released many albums. Have a couple available on iTunes, Google Play, etc. One of my favorite accomplishments was opening up for Baby Bash and MC magic with Low Profile Records in my hometown Mescalero, New Mexico. Been on GLC (God's Learning Channel) twice. But more importantly, I enjoy the accomplishments of giving back to the community. I've been blessed to be a part of so many charity events, car shows, raising money for different causes, suicide awareness, cancer awareness, school supply drives, and just so many that I can't even name them all but that's where I feel the real accomplishment is at. Being able to help someone or a community for a good cause is always the best accomplishment.

Q How does your tribal heritage appear in your life as a way of life? How does culture impact the way you live and the way you make your music?

A I love my Native American people. I am an enrolled member of the Mescalero Apache from Mescalero, NM. My father is Mescalero Apache and my mother is Hispanic. I live my life to glorify God and to do whatever I can to make this world a better place. I have a simple message to the world that God is good. You were put on this earth for a purpose and if you can see it happening in your mind you can make it happen for yourself!

Q What do you hope to make happen for your listeners?

A I hope that not only Native Americans but everyone who can relate to my music simply enjoys the music and feels the positive energy that will stimulate their mind, body and soul.

Q How would you describe your outlook on life?

A Basically, just really believing in myself and the music. To not worry about what everyone else thinks and just do what I love to do. It took me a long time to get to the point where I know what I'm doing is right, it's God's plan, and every thing working out in perfect timing. I believe a lot of us worry too much about, "Well, why hasn't this happened yet? And when will it happen for me? And how come I don't have this or that?" But once I started focusing on what I had and stopped focusing on what I didn't have, more and better things started happening. I had to come to realize that by being grateful for the little things I do have that God would bless me with more and He did.

Q Yes! I agree! As I always say on my radio show, "Gratitude is the only attitude worth having." Gratitude inspires others, so who are some of the musicians who inspire you and why?

A I grew up listening to all the greats from 2pac, Snoop, Dre, Ice Cube to all the classic Gangster Rap. I enjoy all of them. I have always been a big fan of Litefoot (Native American Rap artist) and I got the privilege to meet him when he did a concert in my home reservation when I was 11 years old and he has always been inspiring to me. I enjoy a lot of the new rap musicians everyone from Drake, Lil Wayne, Rich Homie Quan, G easy, anything not really for the lyrics they are rapping about but for the way it sounds and the talent they have. I am also a big fan of Chicano Rap, Royal T, Lil Bandit, Mr Sancho and I now have the privilege of working with their record label. Been doing some great things with them. I don't really have a favorite musician but I enjoy all types of different music anyone from Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, to Jeulz Santana and Cassidy and even Justin Bieber! Ha! Ha!

Q Please give some advice to someone who needs some help to start their dream?

A Just do what you love to do. Enjoy yourself and make the type of music people will enjoy. Always picture yourself positively and let it happen. Don't spend so much time worrying about how it's going to happen, but just focus on the outcome and take that first step. Don't hate on other people. Don't get too caught up in competitions. Run your own race.

Q What would you like us to know that we don't already know about you?

A I work in Marketing/ Advertising as a Graphic Designer at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort. I also DJ and MC all types of shows so if you ever want to book me for an event, we can make it happen.

Q Thanks so much for sharing with us. We sure do appreciate you!

A I sure do appreciate you. Thank you for giving me this opportunity. It is truly a blessing. Stay Beautiful, Dawn, and keep doing all the great things you are doing. God bless.
