The site of the Wounded Knee cemetery gave inspiration to the team of Mission Wounded Knee to make a difference in South Dakota sharing Good News with the less fortunate.

SIOUX FALLS, SD—For 13 years, Mission Wounded Knee (MWK) has made trips to South Dakota and this year is no exception.

This year’s theme “War Dance—Dancing on Injustice” is a good way to describe what the MWK team desires to do.

The tour begins with three Broken Walls concerts in three prisons the last week of August.

“We are excited about re-visiting the facilities and sharing Jesus with the inmates and staff,” stated Bruce Bartelli, director of MWK.

The team then returns to Sioux Falls for the “Honoring and Healing of the Nations” Labor Day outreach in McKennan Park. Again this year Pastor Fred Wilgenburg, Aaron Aaron, Brian Narcomey and other leaders, churches, and ministries are coming together to host this community outreach.

“We had around 350 attend who enjoyed and participated in the honoring of the Native Nations and the music of Broken Walls last year,” said Bartelli.

MWK will then be at Family Life Assembly in Sisseton, led by Lakota Pastor Vern Donnell, for a concert on September 4. Then there is a school assembly and community concert at the Reservation Agency school gym.

On September 6, they are scheduled to be at a concert at the Flandreau Reservation thanks to the efforts of Chaplain Bill Britton.

Students always look forward to the MWK school assemblies held each year in South Dakota.

“The intensity and seriousness of this journey is why your intercession is a pivotal reason those of us you send can help local ministries and people get the breakthrough they have long prayed for,” Bartelli stated.

The ministry trip is extended one day as Heartland Apostolic Prayer Network (HAPN) and “Calling the Nations” ministry host a concert.

“Your prayers help create an atmosphere of habitation for the Holy Spirit so we can step into the anointing as we see what great things Adonai accomplishes,” wrote Bartelli in a recent newsletter.

One of the goals of MWK and Broken Walls is to “emphasize the restoration of the virtues of Native people back into the people.”

The team still needs funding to cover their expenses. If you’d like to help, contact Bruce and Donna Bartelli at at bbartelli@cox.net or telephone (620) 875-6200.
